Paris Game Week; an Invite to Greater Opportunities
2, Nov - 2022 - 2 likes ChristopherWith the giant strides within the esports community in Nigeria, a lot of individuals and organizations have worked tirelessly to bring esports out of obscurity and open the eyes of those within the country and the world at large to the countless opportunities present within the Nigerian esports scene.
The recent invite of major organizations within the Nigerian esports community to the forthcoming Paris Game Week, might force one to marvel at the enormous opportunity this presents to the esports ecosystem within Nigeria and what we could expect going forward.
What is Paris Game Week?
Paris Game Week(PGW) is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris, France. It is organized by SELL(Syndicat des éditeurs de logiciels de loisirs), a French organisation that promotes the interests of video game developers. This event was inaugurated on the 27th of October, 2010. Its last physical event which was held between 26th to 30th October 2018 attracted over 316,000 attendees.
Paris Game Week 2022 holds from 2nd to 6th November, 2022.
What does an invite entail?
To a region gaining grounds and trying to become one of the esports power houses in the world, an invite to the PGW gives the country an opportunity to show case the current strides being made in the industry within the country and massive potentials yet to be unlocked to thousands of attendees and millions of people worldwide. Some of the esports power houses in Nigeria such as "GAMR AFRICA, KON10DR, GAMENATION AFRICA, LSEA, INFINIX and 10N8E" are partnering together to showcase what the community has achieved and hopes to achieve including hidden gems yet to be unlocked. Some games to be showcased by the Nigerian community includes but not limited to Pubgmobile,Call of Duty Mobile,Free Fire, Fifa, Mobile Legends,Rocket League, etc.
Hopes remain high as to what the country can gain from this event and with the rate of explosion within the esports sector in the country it wont feel far fetched to anticipate such an event being hosted in Nigeria and garnering huge numbers of attendees in the Nearest future. The future remains bright!
